WALKING HUMBLY WITH MARY
Mary on Calvary is the perfect example of spiritual fruitfulness for all members of the LCM. Empowerd by the strength, the compassion, and the maternal
care of Mary for Christ and his brothers and sisters, Associates and Sisters of the Little Company of Mary seek to emulate her deep faith, her humility and her endless hope in God’s promise.
Mary’s compassionate love held her firm at the Cross of Christ. With her those who feel called to join the Little Company of Mary as Associate members
are moved by their compassion and love for the poor, the sick the suffering and the dying of the world. Like Mary, they draw their strength and support from closeness to Christ, to each other, and to the wider
community. Like Mary, they accept willingly and with generous self-giving, the joys and sufferings of each day.
Following the example of our founder, Associate members of the community surrender themselves to God in a spirit of a faith strengthened by
hope and impelled by love.
LOVING TENDERLY WITH MARY
As Mary’s companions, Associates seek to have the simplicity of her fidelity, the strong faith of her fiat, and the joy of her awareness of God’s action
in her life. With her, they seek to live with Christ as the centre and the source of their being. Through participation in the Eucharist, their ongoing commitment to deepening their relationship of love with and in
Jesus through a regular life of prayer, Associates learn from the Lord their own particular way. As messengers of God’s love and mercy, they make visible the healing presence of Jesus in the world in which they
live.
ACTING JUSTLY WITH MARY
Called to make credible by their lives that God is not only good, but cares for the world and its people with infinite tenderness, Associates work for
and cooperate with those who are working to make a world of justice and peace a reality. Respectful of the human dignity of each and every human person - because all are created in the image and likeness of God -
Associates are called by their commitment to reject outright any compromise with injustice wherever it occurs.
LIVING PRAYERFULLY WITH MARY
With Christ, our exemplar, Associates take time daily to go apart and pray (Mark: 1:35). In union with the whole church, they commit themselves to join
in the prayer of the universal church - either alone or, where possible in public. According to local opportunities, they join their religious sisters in prayer and celebration as members of a community of faith,
and they commit themselves to regular times of reflection and where possible, an annual retreat.
Recognizing the great movements of prayer, they not only offer praise to God, but also petition God’s mercy for the world - and particularly for the
dying. They remember particularly those how die each day, unknown, unnamed and often unloved. Conscious of their call to pray “over the world” in the spirit of Jesus and Mary, they take this responsibility seriously
to that none may die unloved, unknown, nor without the service of prayer.
